A. A licensed driver at least 18 with three years' experience, seated beside you

You get your instruction permit at age 15 years and 8 months. What is the shortest time you must hold it before the road test?
- A 12 months, the full holding period
- B 4 months, until you turn 16
- C 6 months, the minimum holding period
- D No holding period, because you are almost 16
Show answer
C. 6 months, the minimum holding period
Permit holders who are 14 or 15 must hold the permit for 12 months or until age 16, whichever comes first, but never less than six months. At 15 years 8 months you turn 16 in four months, so the six-month floor is what applies.
