A suspended license is invalid, so those days do not count toward Phase One. Texas adds the number of suspension days to the six-month holding period.
Texas Driver Handbook (DL-7), page 8Texas requires at least $25,000 of liability coverage for property damage you cause. Together with $30,000 and $60,000 for injuries, this is the 30/60/25 minimum.
Texas Driver Handbook (DL-7), page 24A first conviction for driving without evidence of financial responsibility brings a fine of $175 to $350. A second conviction adds license suspension, higher fines and possible vehicle impoundment.
Texas Driver Handbook (DL-7), page 24After a hearing, DPS may suspend or revoke the license of a driver under 18 who has two or more separate traffic convictions within any 12-month period. For drivers in general the thresholds are four in 12 months or seven in 24 months, so new drivers have much less room for mistakes.
Texas Driver Handbook (DL-7), page 18Under implied consent, refusing a breath or blood test brings a 180-day suspension, up to 730 days for later refusals. Refusing is punished more harshly than failing the test.
Texas Driver Handbook (DL-7), page 64If you take the test and your BAC is 0.08 or more, your license may be suspended for 90 days, or up to 365 days for later offenses. This administrative suspension is separate from any criminal DWI penalty.
Texas Driver Handbook (DL-7), page 64A minor's first refusal to provide a breath or blood specimen brings a 180-day suspension; a second refusal brings 2 years. Refusing never helps you avoid a suspension.
Texas Driver Handbook (DL-7), page 63A minor whose specimen shows any detectable alcohol below 0.08 loses the license for 60 days on a first offense, 120 days on a second, and 180 days after that. A minor may request a hearing to contest it.
