  • Between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. a permit holder must be supervised, except when going directly to or from church activities, work activities, or school activities on school property. Any other late trip needs a supervisor.

  • Violating Level One permit restrictions counts as driving without a license. The first offense brings a two-month suspension and later offenses bring four months, so the rules are worth taking seriously.

  • Delaware PIP must be at least $15,000 for any one person and $30,000 for everyone injured in one crash. PIP pays for injuries regardless of who caused the crash, so it sits alongside your liability coverage.

    Delaware Driver Manual, page 63
  • For administrative action, Delaware counts points at full value for the first 12 months after the violation and half value for the second 12 months. After 24 months they stop counting toward these actions.

    Delaware Driver Manual, page 47
  • Delaware suspends a license for one month at 25 mph over the limit, adding one month for each extra 5 mph. At 25-29 mph over, the driver may take a behavior modification course instead.

    Delaware Driver Manual, page 48
  • Anyone under 21 who drives after drinking any alcohol loses their license for two months on a first offense and for 6 to 12 months on each later offense. A full DUI conviction can mean revocation until age 21.

    Delaware Driver Manual, page 54
  • A first DUI conviction costs 12 months of license loss when the BAC is under .15 or drugs were involved, rising to 18 and 24 months at higher BAC levels. Court penalties of $500 to $1,500 and up to 12 months in jail come on top of that.

    Delaware Driver Manual, page 56
  • When signals are in place but show no light, Delaware requires approaching drivers to slow down and prepare to yield to vehicles in or approaching the intersection. Never assume cross traffic will stop for you.
