  • Idaho driver training has three parts: 30 hours in the classroom, 6 hours in the car watching other student drivers, and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel practice with an approved instructor. It is required for anyone under 17 applying for a license.

    Idaho Driver's Handbook, page 19
  • Idaho's point table is: 8 to 11 points in 12 months, warning letter; 12 to 17 in 12 months, 30-day suspension; 18 to 23 in 24 months, 90 days; 24 or more in 36 months, 6 months. Penalties climb as points pile up.

    Idaho Driver's Handbook, page 123
  • A first violation of Idaho's no-insurance law requires one year of proof of financial responsibility. A second offense within five years raises that to three years.

    Idaho Driver's Handbook, page 128
  • For a first test failure, ITD suspends your license for 90 days, and for the first 30 days you have absolutely no driving privileges. An ignition interlock is then required for one year after the suspension ends.

    Idaho Driver's Handbook, page 126
  • You may request an administrative hearing on the suspension within seven days of the date on the Notice of Suspension. The suspension itself takes effect 30 days after you are served.

    Idaho Driver's Handbook, page 125
  • A first refusal brings a one-year absolute suspension; a second refusal within 10 years brings a two-year absolute suspension. These penalties add to any penalty from a DUI conviction in court.

    Idaho Driver's Handbook, page 127
  • A dashed bike lane line lets right-turning drivers merge right and left-turning bicyclists merge left. If a bicyclist is already in that area, the right-turning driver must yield.
