  2. The light turns yellow as you approach an intersection. What does Kentucky law say?

    • A Stop if you can do so safely
    • B Speed up to clear the intersection before red
    • C You may enter as long as the light is not red yet when you leave
    • D Stop immediately, even if it means braking hard
    Show answer

    A. Stop if you can do so safely

A yellow light means the signal is about to turn red, so stop if you can do it safely. A vehicle that entered on yellow may clear the intersection, but it is illegal to enter after the light turns red.

  3. When may you turn LEFT on a red light in Kentucky?

    • A From a two-way street onto a one-way street, after stopping
    • B Never; left turns on red are always illegal
    • C Only from a one-way street onto a one-way street
    • D From any street, if no oncoming traffic is visible
    Show answer

    C. Only from a one-way street onto a one-way street

Kentucky allows a left turn on red only from a one-way street onto another one-way street. You must stop first and then turn when the roadway is clear of vehicles and pedestrians.

  4. What does a flashing red traffic light mean?

    • A Slow down and proceed with caution without stopping
    • B Come to a full stop and go only when it is clear
    • C Stop only if cross traffic is present
    • D The signal is broken, so treat the intersection as uncontrolled
    Show answer

    B. Come to a full stop and go only when it is clear

Treat a flashing red light like a stop sign: come to a full stop and go only when the way is clear. A flashing yellow, by contrast, means slow down and watch for others.
