Regulatory signs

Keep right sign

Stay to the right of the island or obstruction ahead.

MUTCD designation R4-7. See the federal MUTCD, page 142.

How to read signs like this

Regulatory signs tell you what the law requires: stop, yield, speed limits, turns and lanes. Most are white rectangles with black or red. Red means stop, yield or a prohibition; a red circle with a slash means “no”.

    D. Pass only to the right of the island

This white regulatory sign shows an arrow passing to the right of a shape that stands for the island. It is used where traffic must pass only to the right of a median, island or obstruction. Passing on the left could put you into the path of oncoming traffic.
