Drive test (Class D driving skills test)

Oklahoma Road Test (2026) What’s on the Driving Test, Scoring & Tips

A Service Oklahoma examiner (or a Service Oklahoma-designated driver education examiner) rides with you on a public-road route of about 5 miles, which takes about 20 minutes, and tells you where to drive and which maneuvers to do, including parallel parking and parking and starting on a hill. You can fail for too many errors, dangerous driving, law violations, a collision or refusing to do a maneuver.

Maneuvers on the Oklahoma driving test

Steps and scoring come from Service Oklahoma’s own materials, in their words where possible. Where a state publishes no steps, we say so rather than guess.

Parallel parking

Always tested

How it’s scored

Listed as an assessed maneuver; the manual says to end within 18 inches of the curb, centered in the space.

Steps

  1. Choose a space large enough for your car.
  2. Signal, then pull up even with the car in front, about 2 feet out from it.
  3. Check you won't interfere with oncoming traffic, turn the front wheels all the way right and back slowly toward the curb.
  4. When your front wheels are opposite the rear bumper of the car in front, quickly turn the wheel all the way left.
  5. Back slowly into position alongside the curb, within 18 inches of it.
  6. Straighten the front wheels and pull forward to center the car in the space.

Notes from our check

No official score sheet is published. Service Oklahoma's skills-test rule (OAC 260:135-5-42) sets a cumulative point-deduction system, a list of disqualifying errors (for example no seat belt, rolling stops, speeding more than 5 mph over, any contact with objects, examiner having to intervene, four or more 'weighted offenses') and left/right-turn scoring items. But the official code site (rules.ok.gov) blocks automated requests, so those details are left out here; only unofficial mirrors could be read. The manual's retest text ('three times after date of eligibility, then once every 30 days') matches the Drive Test Center FAQ. The manual says tests are not given when the examiner considers roads slick or hazardous.
