Wyoming Motorcycle Permit Exam Simulator

A full-length mock motorcycle knowledge test: Wyoming does not publish the count or pass mark; we use 30 questions at 80%. New questions every attempt.

How this simulator works

  • Knowledge test: 30 questions, 24 correct to pass.
  • No time limit, like the real test. Take your time.
  • You won’t see whether you were right until the end, just like at the Wyoming test. Then you can review every answer with its explanation.
  • Questions are drawn fresh from the full Wyoming bank each time.

Sample questions

  1. Under Wyoming's regular motorcycle permit rules (not the hardship program for 14- and 15-year-olds), what is the youngest age for a motorcycle instruction permit?

    • A 16
    • B 15
    • C 17
    • D 14
    Show answer

    B. 15

Wyoming lets youths who are at least 15 get a restricted-use motorcycle instruction permit after passing a written exam and a vision test. A separate hardship program for 14- and 15-year-olds requires approval by the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

    • A Keep the front brake locked until you stop
    • B Release both brakes and coast to a stop
    • C Pump the rear brake only
    • D Release the front brake immediately, then reapply it firmly
    Show answer

  3. Wyoming law requires one piece of equipment on any motorcycle carrying a passenger (other than in a sidecar). What is it?

    • A A second mirror for the passenger
    • B A backrest or sissy bar
    • C Footrests for the passenger
    • D A passenger grab strap
    Show answer

    C. Footrests for the passenger

Any Wyoming motorcycle carrying a passenger, other than in a sidecar or enclosed cab, must have footrests for the passenger. Firm footing keeps the passenger from falling off and pulling you off too.

  4. There are vehicles in the lanes on both sides of you. Which lane position is usually best?

    • A The center of the lane, path 2
    • B The right third, path 3
    • C The left third, path 1
    • D Straddling the line between the two lanes
    Show answer

    A. The center of the lane, path 2

Each lane has three paths. With vehicles on both sides, the center of the lane, path 2, usually gives you the most space on each side. Change position as hazards change: move away from the side the problem is on.
