  2. How should you position your car when making a right turn?

    • A In the center of the road
    • B Swing wide to the left first so the turn is easier to make

  3. At an intersection with two turn lanes side by side, you are turning from the lane farther from the curb (the second lane). Into which lane should you turn?

    • A The lane shown by the lane line, the second lane from the curb
    • B The lane nearest the curb
    • C Any open lane on the new street
    • D The far left lane, then move right
    Show answer

    A. The lane shown by the lane line, the second lane from the curb

With double turning lanes, the lane nearest the curb turns into the lane nearest the curb. The second lane follows the lane line into its matching lane, so the two cars do not collide.

  4. On a road with no marked center turn lane, how should you make a left turn?

    • A From the right lane into the left lane
    • B From the left lane into any lane of the new road
    • C From the center of the road into the right lane
    • D From the left lane into the left lane
    Show answer

    D. From the left lane into the left lane

When no center lane is marked, start the left turn from the left lane lawfully available and end it in the left lane lawfully available. This keeps your path predictable for other drivers.
