Curve with side road sign
A curve ahead with a road joining it. Watch for vehicles entering.
MUTCD designation W1-10R. See the federal MUTCD, page 73.
How to read signs like this
Warning signs are usually yellow diamonds. They tell you about a hazard or change ahead (curves, intersections, merges, slippery roads) so you can slow down before you get there.
Practice question
Which situation does this sign warn about?
- A A side road joining a straight stretch of road just ahead of you
- B The road splits into two branches
- C A curve to the right with a side road joining it from the left
- D The right lane must turn right
Show answer
C. A curve to the right with a side road joining it from the left
Warning symbols can be combined. This one joins a curve arrow with a side road to show that an intersection sits on or right next to the curve. Slow for the curve and watch for vehicles pulling out from the side road, which you may not see until late.
