Cross road sign
A four-way intersection ahead. Watch for traffic entering from the side.
MUTCD designation W2-1. See the federal MUTCD, page 198.
How to read signs like this
Warning signs are usually yellow diamonds. They tell you about a hazard or change ahead (curves, intersections, merges, slippery roads) so you can slow down before you get there.
Practice question
What does this sign tell you is ahead?
- A A hospital is just ahead on this road
- B A road joins from one side only
- C A road crosses yours at an intersection ahead
- D A railroad crosses the road ahead
Show answer
C. A road crosses yours at an intersection ahead
Intersection warning signs draw the shape of the junction ahead, and a plus sign means a full cross road. They warn that vehicles may be turning onto or entering your road. Cover the brake and check both directions as you approach.
