How to read signs like this
Warning signs are usually yellow diamonds. They tell you about a hazard or change ahead (curves, intersections, merges, slippery roads) so you can slow down before you get there.
Practice question
What should you watch for after this sign?
- A Bicycles are not allowed on this road
- B Bicyclists must yield to people walking
- C A lane is reserved for bicycles only
- D Bicyclists may enter or cross the road ahead
Show answer
D. Bicyclists may enter or cross the road ahead
A bicycle on a yellow or yellow-green diamond warns that bicyclists may appear in the roadway unexpectedly. Slow down, look for riders and give them plenty of room when passing. Yellow-green backgrounds are used for warnings about bicyclists, pedestrians and schools.
