How to read signs like this
Warning signs are usually yellow diamonds. They tell you about a hazard or change ahead (curves, intersections, merges, slippery roads) so you can slow down before you get there.
Practice question
What does this sign warn you about in rural areas?
- A A wildlife viewing area is nearby, with parking off the road
- B Hunting is allowed along this road
- C Deer may cross or stand in the road in this area
- D A zoo or animal park is ahead
Show answer
C. Deer may cross or stand in the road in this area
Animal warning signs are posted where animals may enter or use the road unexpectedly. Watch the road edges and slow down where you see the sign, so you have time to react if a deer appears.
