  4. A school bus is stopped with red lights flashing on a road with one lane each way and a center two-way left-turn lane. You are coming from the opposite direction. What must you do?

    • A Move into the center lane and pass slowly
    • B Stop, because this road is not a divided highway
    • C Continue if no children are visible
    • D Continue, because the turn lane divides the road
    Show answer

    B. Stop, because this road is not a divided highway

A road with one lane in each direction and a two-way left-turn lane is not a divided highway, so drivers in both directions must stop for the bus. Only a physical separation, or a four- or five-lane road with a center turn lane, changes this.
